Since every third post is a conflict check request, it's good to put
the blazon, or at least part thereof, in the subject line to separate
it from all the other conflict checks. so I altered the Sublect of
this thread.
(Also, note to future posters, if you put the blazon in the subject
you still need to put it into the message body because some people get
truncated subject lines or cannot see both subject and message body on
the same screen.)
> Argent a sea-dragon gules, in a chief sable wavy, three fleur de lis
> argent (I think that is the blazoning)
Argent, a sea-dragon gules bellied and finned Or and on a chief wavy
sable three fleurs-de-lys argent.
There's a style problem. The fins and belly Or is fine but the wing
edging should be colored gules. It cannot be blazoned and is just
unusual enough that it might be considered a form of fimbriation, or
at least too much Or on the argent field. Color those sections gules
and you're fine. That's an excellent chief wavy, by the way. Perfect
depth of chief, perfect depth and number of waves.
For purposes of conflict checking the sea-dragon is gules, the
artistic Or isn't enough to constitute a tincture change.
This armory qualifies for X.2. with only two types of charge on the
field (sea-dragon and chief) and no overall charges.
We need to check dragons and sea-creatures. By Laurel precedent there
is no difference between a dragon and a sea-dragon, nor either of
those and a wyvern. There is a possible single CD from other sea
creatures. We also need to check demi-dragons because there's only
one CD for hacking off the rear end.
We love the Ordinary categories because Monster - Dragon - 1 contains
dragons, wyverns, and demi-dragons.
Temair MacDiarmada - November of 1993 (via Atlantia): Argent, a dragon
rampant gules maintaining a sword, on a chief embattled sable three
estoiles argent.
There's a CD for changing the type of chief from embattled to wavy by X.4.e.
There's a CD for changing the type of tertiary charges by X.4.j.ii.
since this proposal qualifies for that rule.
Würm Wald, Barony of - July of 1980 (via the Middle): Argent, a wyvern
gules spiraling down a tree eradicated and on a chief urdy sable a
laurel wreath argent.
One CD for change of type of chief by X.4.e.
One CD for change of tertiaries by X.4.j.i.
One CD for change of posture of the dragon by X.4.f.
No need to analyze whether the tree is co-primary, primary, or what.
(This is how Teceangl handles the weird stuff - count CDs on the not
weird parts and if you clear it, don't bother with the weird stuff.)
Mairgreg of Bryn Gwlad - January of 1989 (via Ansteorra): Argent, a
wyvern azure, on a chief wavy vert, three escallops argent.
One CD for changing the tincture of the monster by X.4.d.
One CD for changing the tincture of the chief by X.4.d.
One CD for changes to the tertiary charges by X.4.j.i.
Seashire - July of 1986 (via the East): Argent, a sea-dragon erect
gules, maintaining an escutcheon sable within a bordure wavy azure.
One CD for change of tincture of secondary charge by X.4.d.
One CD for change of type of secondary from bordure to chief by X.4.e.
One CD for adding tertiaries to secondary charge by X.4.i.
Æthelwulf of Dover - March of 1991 (via the Middle): Argent, a
sea-wolf gules and on a chief azure three mullets of four points
argent.
One CD for change of tincture of secondary charge by X.4.d.
One CD for change of tincture of secondary charge by X.4.d.
One CD for change of type of monster from sea-wolf to sea-dragon by X.4.e.
One CD for change o type of chief from plain to wavy by X.4.e.
One CD for change of type of tertiary by X.4.j.ii.
Looks clear to me.
