Er, I think W.G.iiL.S.waC.B.C bearas Or a bat displayed sable. Not the other way around. (Ignoring for the moment the "the suit is all monochrome so it's a black bat on a grey background" depictions.)

Since the bat pretty much is always much darker than the oval 'escutcheon' on which it is displayed, I don't think we ought to have a pretense problem with an Or charge on sable... and there are tincture CDs for changing the field and the charge. (aren't there? :-)
