I would think it would be acceptable; it would, I guess, be blazoned as 
"fracted" with the exact way it is broken a matter of "artistic license."

Looking up "fracted" in the online Armorial 
(http://oanda.sca.org/cgi-bin/oanda_bp.cgi, specifically
http://oanda.sca.org/cgi-bin/oanda_bp.cgi?p=fracted&c=case-insensitive&l=500&s=name+only&d=modern&g=disabled&a=disabled)
the first five items have a spear, a key, a crutch, a heart, and a 
feather all fracted. A flail could hardly be objected to. ;-)
