The problem that I can see (IMHO) with acanthus leaves is that in the
scribal setting, they are usually drawn with pieces twisted and
swirled. There are several versions of acanthus (depending on when and
where) which can be quite different from each other but one of the most
common characteristics is that they twist so both top and bottom of the
leaves show and the two sides are different colors. This does not make
for good heraldic style. I think Basil's suggestion of oak leaves is a
good one. For submission, draw them as nice flat, easy to recognize
leaves, and if she wants to twist them when she displays them (which
would be similar to at least one style of acanthus) that's up to her.
