Actually, I knew where the precedent supporting Owen's statement would
be found. :)

[Argent, a columbine and a bordure wavy purpure charged with
increscents argent] It is an odd but nonetheless valid nuance of SCA
blazon that the blazon above is equivalent to the blazon Argent, a
columbine flower purpure and a bordure wavy purpure semy of
increscents argent. Either blazon form is acceptable. In this
emblazon, the columbine is purpure, and the bordure is purpure with
argent increscents on it. However, the blazon Argent, a columbine and
a bordure wavy purpure semy of increscents argent puts increscents on
