I highly recommend supporting the event by staying at the venue they have reserved, but if you don't get reservations in on time, check out the London School of Economics. They have rooms available for the same basic rates, and at  Carr Saunders Hall (not far from the event) they also serve a full english breakfast, and you can make reservations and payments online through their very up-to-date website at

As I have just found out, you can also cancel those reservations with very little notice, and only twelve pounds fifty out of your pocket.
 
I won't get to see everyone there after all, but I certainly hope everyone has a great time and brings back books and pictures and stories.
