This brings up an interesting question.  While we don't allow a branch officer, such as herald or marshal, to combine their arms with their "job's" arms because the whole society uses those arms, what if a branch decided to create and submit a device specifically for their branch's herald or marshal?  Would that even pass muster, or would it be kicked back because of SCA historical precedent?
