Unto the An Tir College of Arms, from Esclarmonde de Porcairages, Deputy to Argent Scroll, Comes Greetings,

 

I am happy to announce a new heraldic education strategy from the Argent Scroll office.   It has come to my notice more than once that while there are many wonderful online resources to support SCA heraldry, the newer herald or non-herald may not know they exist.  Frequently, the up-and-coming heralds only find out about these resources by luck, namely, that in some discussion on this list the resource happens to be mentioned.  While the "New Herald Packet" does feature some of the most critical, giving the absolutely new herald a lengthy list of sites would be overwhelming and negate the packet's purpose of prioritizing the absolute essentials.

 

To more reliably expose newer heralds to online resources, I will be doing a once-a-month posting to the An Tir Heralds list featuring two or three resources, including where to find them and what they can be used for.  I have created a 12-month calendar of what resources will be featured each month, so that important resources on each aspect of SCA heraldry will be regularly touched on.  Argent Scroll has approved this strategy and calendar.

 

When these posts come to the list, please feel free to forward them to any individuals or lists that may find them valuable.  If any experienced heralds have comments on which websites are included, please contact me privately.  

 

The first notice of this kind will be appearing on the list shortly.
